How This Group Helps Teens

Multiple hands stacked together in a circle, showing unity and teamwork, with some wearing rings and colorful sweaters.

Adolescence can be a challenging stage of life. Social pressure, academic stress, and changing friendships can impact confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Stronger Together is designed to give teen girls practical tools and meaningful support during this important stage. In a structured, therapist-led environment, participants will:

  • Build healthy coping skills for managing anxiety and stress

  • Strengthen communication and peer relationship skills

  • Increase self-confidence and self-esteem

  • Learn how to navigate conflict in healthy ways

  • Feel less alone in their experiences

This group focuses on skill-building and real-world application — so teens leave each session with tools they can use immediately.

What Happens in Each Session?

Three young women standing on a rooftop at sunset with their backs facing the camera, raising their arms joyfully, one making a peace sign, with a cityscape and trees in the background.

Each 90-minute session is structured to provide a safe, supportive environment where teens can learn, practice, and reflect. The group combines guided discussion, skill-building exercises, and peer support. To help teens engage with the material, some sessions includes worksheets that reinforce learning and provide practical tools to use outside the group.

Here’s a brief overview of the 8-week program:

  • Week 1 – Building Trust and Group Safety: Establishing a supportive environment and group norms.

  • Week 2 – Self-Esteem and Identity: Exploring personal strengths and self-concept.

  • Week 3 – Body Image and Social Media: Discussing media influences and developing a healthy body image.

  • Week 4 – Emotions and Coping Skills: Learning strategies to identify, manage, and express emotions.

  • Week 5 – Healthy Relationships and Boundaries: Understanding boundaries and practicing communication skills.

  • Week 6 – Peer Pressure and Decision Making: Developing confidence to make choices aligned with personal values.

  • Week 7 – Self-Compassion and Inner Critic: Cultivating self-kindness and reducing negative self-talk.

  • Week 8 – Closing: Reflecting on progress, reviewing skills learned, and planning next steps.

Each week is designed to build on the last, giving participants the tools, support, and confidence to navigate challenges both in and out of the group.

A Safe, Confidential & Professional Environment

Your teen’s emotional safety is our priority.

This group is led by a trained therapist experienced in working with adolescents and group dynamics. Clear expectations around respect, boundaries, and confidentiality are established from the start.

The small group size (8–10 participants) ensures that each teen feels seen, supported, and heard.

A screening consultation is required prior to participation to ensure the group is a good fit for each participant.

Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes. This group is suitable for teens who are new to therapy as well as those who have previous experience.

  • Parents will be part of the initial screening consultation. To protect teen confidentiality, we focus on progress and overall skill development rather than sharing specific session details.

  • Feeling nervous is completely normal. Our small, structured group (8–10 participants) provides a supportive environment, and the therapist guides each teen to participate at their own pace. Many teens initially shy become active and engaged over time.

  • Group therapy can be highly effective on its own, and for some teens it may also complement individual therapy. This can be discussed during the screening process.

  • Group rules emphasize respect and privacy. Teens are encouraged to share openly, and what is discussed in the group stays in the group. This fosters trust and psychological safety.

  • The group is paid upfront per session ($40/session, $320 total). We do not offer direct billing to insurance. You will receive a receipt for your records if needed for reimbursement.

  • The screening ensures the group is a good fit for your teen and helps the therapist tailor support to meet the needs of each participant. It’s also a chance to answer any questions parents or teens may have before starting.
